Our beloved 1981 Vancouver 36 is hull number 8 of 13 built in Sarasota Florida, but furnished with a unique redwood interior in Eureka California by it’s first owner. Though she was originally outfitted for the trans-pac complete with Monitor wind vane, emergency rudder, storm trisail on a separate mast-track, and self tracking staysil with reefing ties, she never made it across that pond. Instead we put all that gear to great use tackling every kind of weather while sailing from Seattle to Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador before heading through the Panama Canal, throughout the Caribbean, then onward to Bermuda, throughout New England, and even a frozen winter in the Chesapeake.

In the last 6 years she’s been our floating home, we’ve sailed over 17,000 nautical miles, rarely tying up to a dock. Heavy ground tackle, loads of tank space, a 12V water maker, ample batteries, plenty of solar panels, tons of storage space and over 2 months of cooking propane on board enables this sailboat to stay off-grid for extended adventures. Couple that with a Dickinson Antarctic diesel heater and you can expect to handle all climates, all year round.
She will continue to be our home until we sell her as we sail throughout New England this summer. Email us to arrange a tour near you or to ask any questions about this wonderful sailboat!
